CANDIDATE FAQs
How do I submit my resume? Please submit your resume to: Foot in the Door Recruiting 208 Summerhouse Lane, Carrollton, Virginia 23314 or resume@footinthedoorrecruiting.com
Will you submit my resume to clients without my permission? We will never present your resume to a client without your consent. We contact you first to see if you are interested in the position.
Do you work for me or do you work for the hiring companies? Ultimately, we work exclusively for the hiring company. Our fees are paid by the hiring company and you of course do not need to pay us anything. However, our ability to service our clients is contingent on our ability to service you. If we find you the wrong job, then we have failed in recruiting the right candidate for our client. Our goal is to become your trusted advisor on career issues and lead you to the right client for the right opportunity at the right time.
Will you present me with multiple opportunities at the same time? When you are being seriously considered for a position by one of our clients, it wouldn't be right for us to be showing you to other clients. There is, however, one exception to this golden rule. If you are currently unemployed, we will show you to multiple clients and will let them know that you are working on a "first come, first served basis". We do this because we want to help you get back to work as soon as possible.
If I get a new position or am promoted, should I let Foot in the Door Recruiting know? Yes! Keeping us updated about the developments in your life is the best way to optimize our relationship. As your career evolves and you grow professionally, keep us in the loop so that we can continue to look out for great opportunities on your behalf.
Are all Foot in the Door Recruiting searches published on your web site? No. Certain searches are conducted on a confidential basis or the target list of candidates is so narrow that it doesn't make sense to post them on our web site.
What criteria do you look for in evaluating candidates? While each search is unique, there are some common qualities that we frequently use in assessing candidates:
- Professional Credentials (Do you have a track record of getting results?)
- Administrative and Management Abilities (What do you know and are you good at it?)
- Leadership Qualities (Are you a motivating leader?)
- Communications Skills (Can you convey ideas effectively?)
- Experience (Have you been in our client's industry in the position they want to fill?)
- Personal Qualities and Style (Will the client enjoy working with you?)
- Potential Fit with our Client's Organization (Will you fit in and enjoy their culture?)
- Educational History (What have you studied and how did you do?)
How often will you contact me with opportunities? We will only contact you when there is an appropriate opportunity. Even if you are enormously talented, we may never contact you if we do not have the right opportunity. Please feel free to contact us periodically if you have additional information that would be helpful to us.
What searches are Foot in the Door Recruiting currently conducting? Some of the current searches we are conducting are described in the Current Opportunities section of our web site.
